About this service

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) is NDIS funding for temporary housing when a participant is waiting for a long-term housing solution — such as SDA becoming available, completing home modifications, or finalising an ILO arrangement. MTA covers the accommodation cost during this transition period.

Able Aide supports participants in MTA arrangements with coordinated SIL and core supports to maintain stability while permanent housing is secured.

How Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) supports you

  • Reduced transition stress

Frequently asked questions

When is MTA funded by the NDIS?
MTA is funded when a participant has a confirmed long-term housing solution but needs temporary accommodation while waiting for it — for example, an SDA dwelling under construction or home modifications in progress.
How is MTA different from STA?
STA is short-term (typically up to 14 days at a time, including respite). MTA is for longer transition periods — up to 90 days — while awaiting permanent housing. Funding rules and purposes differ.
Can hospitals refer for MTA on discharge?
Hospital discharge teams can refer participants with MTA funding to Able Aide at referrals@ableaide.com.au. We prioritise discharge coordination enquiries.
