Accessibility Statement
Able Aide Pty Ltd (“Able Aide”) is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all people, including those with disability. Accessibility is not an afterthought — it is fundamental to who we are as an NDIS provider serving participants with diverse needs.
Last updated: June 2025
1. Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA conformance. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disability.
We are also committed to the principles of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), which prohibits disability discrimination in access to services, including online services.
2. What we have implemented
We have implemented the following accessibility measures on this website:
Semantic structure
- Meaningful, logical heading hierarchy (H1 through H3) on every page
- Semantic HTML elements:
<nav>,<main>,<article>,<section>,<footer>,<header> - Skip-to-content link at the top of every page for keyboard users
Images and media
- All meaningful images have descriptive alternative text
- Decorative images are marked as presentational and hidden from assistive technologies
Forms and interactive elements
- All form inputs have associated, visible labels
- Required fields are identified both visually and programmatically
- Error messages are associated with the relevant input and announced to screen readers
- Interactive elements are fully operable by keyboard without requiring a mouse
Colour and contrast
- Text and interactive elements meet a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their background (WCAG AA for normal text)
- Colour is not used as the sole means of conveying information
Navigation
- All interactive elements are reachable and operable using a keyboard
- Focus indicators are clearly visible on all interactive elements
- Navigation landmarks are used consistently across all pages
Language
- The page language (
lang="en-AU") is declared in the HTML, enabling screen readers to use the correct pronunciation rules
Responsive design
- Content reflows without horizontal scrolling at 320px wide (WCAG 1.4.10)
- Text can be resized up to 200% in the browser without loss of content or functionality
3. Known limitations
We are aware of the following limitations and are working to address them:
- PDF documents: Some linked PDF documents may not be fully accessible. Where possible, we will provide accessible HTML alternatives on request.
- Older content: Some legacy content may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA. We are progressively reviewing and remediating this content.
- Third-party embeds: Embedded third-party tools (such as forms) may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control. We evaluate third-party tools for accessibility before use.
If you encounter a specific barrier not listed here, please let us know (see Section 5).
4. Assistive technology compatibility
This website is designed to be compatible with:
- Screen readers, including NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), and TalkBack (Android)
