NDIS Participant Rights Guide
Understanding choice, control, respect, privacy and what to do if something doesn’t feel right.
Key participant rights (plain language)
- Respect and dignity: supports should be safe and respectful
- Choice and control: you should have a say in how supports are delivered
- Privacy: personal information should be handled carefully
- Safe services: workers should follow safe practice and boundaries
- Right to complain: you can raise concerns without being treated unfairly
If you have a concern
-
1. Raise it early
Share concerns in writing if possible, and ask for a clear response.
-
2. Ask for changes
You can request a different worker, schedule change, or updated plan.
-
3. Use formal pathways
If needed, use your provider’s complaints pathway or seek advocacy support.
Advocacy support
Advocacy organisations can help with advice and next steps. You can also use the Australian Government advocacy finder (Victoria):
